Characteristic: Red Snapper - Lutjanus campechanus - For the people that fish the tropical seas, Snappers are one of their most important catches.  There are approximately 250 species of Snappers.  Red Snappers can be found in the Atlantic Ocean from North Carolina, throughout the Gulf of Mexico and down to South America.  They are bottom dwellers, and are most often found around natural reefs or man-made structures.  Out of all the Snappers Reds are one of the more popular ones.  Due to it’s delicate flavor, it is one fish you might want to fix very simply with salt, pepper and lemon.
