Oyster - Moonstone


product Harvest Location - Point Judith Salt Pond, Narragansett, RI.
Grow Out Method - From seed in an upweller system.  Seeds are force feed till they reach about one inch in size. They are then moved to a grow out area till mature, about 2 to 3 years to reach market size.
Flavor & Appearance - Moonstone® oysters are power washed upon harvest which gives the shells a pearl white color.  They are medium in size and have uniform shape.  The meat is silky and smooth with a crisp salty flavor.
Availability - Available most of the year; exception in July when they are spawning, usually production stops for a couple of weeks and in the winter if the pond freezes over.
